Civil War Talk Radio: January 27, 2006

Air Date: 012706
Subject: Wide Awake Films: If Brady Had Video
Guests: Shane Seley and Ed Leydecker
Summary: Shane Seley and Ed Leydecker of Wide Awake Films describe the process of making Civil War battle documentary videos.
Brett’s Summary: Shane and Ed discuss how they film Civil War reenactments and then create films from these. A good portion of the hour focuses on reenactments and the challenges facing both the reenactors and the members of the film crew. Gerry also asks a lot of probing questions to see exactly how these films are created and how much pre-planning or scripting is used. Gerry only saw the documentary on Franklin (there are others on Spotsylvania and 1st Manassas), so a good amount of time is also spent discussing this specific film. In looking at the web site in April 2008, I noticed their Franklin documentary won an Emmy.
