Free Access to Fold3 Military Records for Memorial Day

Fold3 is offering free access to its records for the Memorial Day weekend. Especially if you’re still in lockdown this is an excellent chance to access Civil War records, including an extensive collection of service records.

Nice! I would highly recommend doing this. I was able to use fold3 to find not only Confederate service records but also a quartermaster receipt signed by my Great Great Grandfather who was a carpenter and providing coffins to the CSA. Also amnesty proclamations as well as a letter requesting amnesty to President Johnson requesting his amnesty because he was a CSA postmaster starting January 1864. It’s well worth the effort. Consider misspellings of names when doing searches.
