March Madness

As I do every year, I’ll be taking a vacation day to watch the first round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament today and tomorrow. Posting will naturally be a little light. Look for an announcement on the After Action Report wargaming contest this weekend. Remember, the winner gets a FREE copy of HPS Chickamauga. Stay tuned…

    Brett,

My family has for more than ten years maintained a friendly, non-wager contest to see who can pick the most correct games in our brackets. My two sons usually battle it out at the top, with the other six or seven of us who turn in brackets battling for third place. This year, for a change, Round 1 went my way.

As a native Ohioan. there has not been much cause for celebration this year. The Ohio State University did not get invited, and my undergrad alma mater (Miami of Ohio) was eliminated in its conference semifinals. Kent State was whipped in Round 1. At least Xavier won.

    Scott,

I started off pretty decent in my office pool, missing three games the first day with no Sweet 16 teams knocked out. But day 2 brought 5 losses and two Sweet 16 teams gone, including Drake. That was one buzzer beater I wish had been missed!

Illinois wasn’t represented in the tourney by even one single team. My Illini and the Salukis of Carbondale almost always go dancing, so it was a really tough college hoops year for me.

    Brett
