This was my first fight, so I really don't remember too much of it. I'm pretty sure John tried to rush straight ahead, and the rifles of my militia made him pay dearly.
SP00726

Regular John Menichelli
Charlotte_a (What-if) - C1776
12

British Major Victory

4
Wow. You certainly don't want to play this one as the Colonials. I don't think they have a chance in h*ll of winning. All the British player has to do is move forward, shoot, melee, and eventually take every victory hex for an overwhelming major victory.
SP00737

Colonial Major Victory

Monmouth

This was actually an abandonment. I lost contact with John and he never has rejoined the club.

Colonial Major Victory

Germantown

10
This one strikes me as similar to the Civil War's Shiloh. The British have some light troops out front. I managed to completely surround the first group and eliminate them all. After that it was just a matter of pushing forward to victory.
SP00736

Ernie Sands

Princeton - C1776

30

Colonial Major Victory

11
I still feel bad about this one. Princeton is similar to Charlotte above except it is now the British player who has no shot to win. I just had to make sure I kept sufficient force back at the southwest objective hex to prevent Ernie from taking it late, and then I moved on Princeton itself with overwhelming force.
SP 00731
Stefan Reuter
First Saratoga - C1776
30

British Major Victory

9
Stefan handed me my hat again. I picked the option to move out on the left with Morgan's men. That was a bad idea. Stefan attacked along the river road and caved my right in. By the time Morgan's men arrived it was all over.
SP00810
Shel Talmy
Lundy's Lane_a - W1812
6
Colonial Major Victory
7
This was another abandonment, but I felt like I was definitely winning this one. I had surrounded and destroyed most of his militia at the eastern end of the map, which is the bottom of the map in this scenario.
SP00811 Ernie Sands Chippawa_b - W1812 30 Colonial Major Victory 12

I felt very proud of myself for this win, especially considering the competition that I faced. I've got a nice little plan for this scenario and it always seems to work pretty well. I'm sure somebody will figure it out and use it against me, but until that happens I'm sticking with it!

SP00916
Richard White
Bunker Hill_a - C1776
12
British Major Victory
4
Rich is a really good player. We played three Bunker Hill scenarios, so they all are mixed up in my mind, but from what I recall most of my boys were streaming to the rear by the end of this one.
SP00921/CG77 - 1st Battle
Scott Reed
Hubbardton* - New York 1777 Campaign - C1776
18
British Minor Victory
6
Hubbardton is a tough one for the Colonial player. I just tried to slowly retreat and keep most of my army intact since this was the start of a campaign.

Richard White

Colonial Major Victory

Bunker Hill

8
This variant of Bunker Hill favors the Patriots. I needed all the help I could get, because as I said before, Rich is a very good player.
SP0933

Marco Rietveld
Cowpens - C1776
11

Colonial Major Victory

8
Marco was pretty new to the club at this point I think. He also tried the straight ahead approach, and my militiamen tore his lobsterbacks to pieces.
SP00940

Nik Butler
Chippawa_b - W1812
30
Colonial Major Victory
12
Nik was also new to the club, and I had my Chippawa plan in action again. It again worked beautifully. I also want to take the time to add that Nik is one of the nicest guys I've talked to in any club so far.
SP00943

Richard White
Bunker Hill_c - C1776
12
British Major Victory
4
Uh oh. A scenario that doesn't favor the Colonials and Rich White as the opponent. Again my boys were streaming precipitously to the rear!
SP00939/CG76 - 2nd Battle
Glyn Hargreaves
Bennington* - New York 1777 Campaign - C1776
8
Colonial Major Victory
7
Bennington is the opposite of Hubbarton. As long as the Colonial player keeps his boys together and doesn't make any stupid mistakes, he should be the victor every time. This was a campaign game, so I tried to pound Glyn's boys mercilessly while preserving my own.
SP00970/CG77 - 2nd Battle
Scott Reed
Bennington* - New York 1777 Campaign - C1776

See above.
SP00962

Peter Clay
Germantown_a - C1776
25

Colonial Major Victory

10
Peter was pretty new to the club, and this battle favors an experienced Colonial. I didn't totally surround his light infantry scout force, but they suffered pretty badly. After that my reserves carried the day.

SP00960/CG76 - 3rd Battle
Glyn Hargreaves
1st Saratoga* - New York 1777 Campaign - C1776

Draw

14
This was a wild and woolly affair that came close to being a minor victory for Glyn. My cavalry caused Glyn some problems, but he did trap some of them near the end.
SP00971/CG77 - 3rd Battle
Scott Reed
1st Saratoga* - New York 1777 Campaign - C1776
48
British Minor Victory
13
I sent my cavalry into Scott's rear too, but I had really bad luck and kept running into his troops. As a result, I had no cavalry by the end of the fight and Scott had a minor victory.
SP01002

Stefan Reuter
Cowpens - C1776
12
British Major Victory
5
My NWC Army commander laid into me again. He took the flanking route and avoided rushing my center. This worked beautifully and he had me taken out, although it was pretty close until the end.
SP00998

Sam Orlando
Cowpens - C1776
9

British Major Victory

3
I thought I had Sam beat until the last turns. He also used flanking maneuvers and managed to ZOC kill about 200(!) of my men on turn 9. After that happened I saw it was futile to continue and offered my sword.
SP00999
Larry Davis
Cowpens - C1776
12
Colonial Major Victory
9
Larry is a good player and my CCC Training Center commander. I think he chose a more head-on approach, but this was closer than most of the Cowpens "head-on" games that I have played.
SP01001

Peter Green
Cowpens - C1776
9
Colonial Major Victory
7
Peter was still new, having just played me at Germantown. My militia had a field day again in this one, angry after the poundings they had received from Mssrs. Reuter and Orlando.

SP01042
Kenny O'Leary
Monmouth_a - C1776

Draw
13
This was a tough fight. I withdrew towards my reinforcements, but Kenny used that time to hole up in a forest. My brave lads hammered at his position, but it was all for naught. This one was very well fought by Kenny.
SP01079/CG77 - 4th Battle
Scott Reed
Oriskany* - New York 1777 Campaign - C1776
10
Colonial Major Victory
7
This was the strangest end to a game I've ever seen, amd I'm sure Scott's other opponents felt the same way. Apparently Scott Reed of the British Army was also Mingo "High Head" Rodes of the Colonial Army. He released this info when he quit, and I got a forfeit win!

Glyn Hargreaves
Oriskany* - New York 1777 Campaign - C1776

Draw
8
I tried to slow Glyn down by making claims of "Indian ambushes" in this heavily wooded scenario. I think it worked too well because I had a militia unit at the first objective hex half way across this HUGE east to west map and Glyn still wasn't there at turn 20. I then offered him a draw and he accepted. I doubt we would have had muuch combat in this one due to Glyn's cautious advance and my deployment, which I'll keep secret for now!
CG76
Glyn Hargreaves
New York 1777 Campaign - C1776
NA
Colonial Major Victory
12
Well, I only managed to win one scenario, but I also got two draws, and that was apparently enough to take the win. Glyn is a very good and good-natured opponent and I had a lot of fun playing this campaign. We have since moved on to an NRC campaign in the NWC.

Watch out. Allen's a very good new player. He looks like he'll eventually end up in the top 20 list, with the speed determined only by how many games he decides to play at a time. He handed me my first loss at Chippawa, and it was a doozy!

I chose to retreat from the Fort at Detroit and managed to exttricate most of my Army, although I must admit it wasn't the most orderly retreat I've ever undertaken!

Jeffrey had troops outside of the fort positioned nicely on my flanks and shot me up pretty badly.
