On January 11, 2005, Mad Minute Games released what I believe to be an innovative and excellent new American Civil War war game called Bull Run: Take Command 1861. On April 18, 2006, MMG released their second game, Take Command: Second Manassas, building on the excellent reviews their first game garnered and obtaining a publishing deal with well-known Strategy Game publisher Paradox in the process. MMG has taken inspiration from Sid Meier's earlier games SMG and SMA and has improved upon those games greatly. You are in command of a Brigade, Division, or even Army in real time. Your men are looking to you for orders. What will you do? The choice is yours.

Mad Minute Games has made clear their intention to create a line of American Civil War games using this Game Engine. The next two games in the series have been announced on October 4, 2005. On December 29, 2005, MMG anounced that Paradox Interactive will be the publisher for Take Command: Second Manassas. The game was released on April 18, 2005 release at this time. In addition, the game will be supported on the 50,000 member strong Paradox Forums. If you think you might be interested in the game, why not TRY THE DEMO? Take Command: Shiloh, while not specifically mentioned at this point, is scheduled for release probably some time in 2007 if things go according to plan. The future looks bright for this series.

I hope this site becomes a frequent stopping place for fans of the first two games and the series to come. Bull Run: Take Command 1861 proved to be very moddable. In fact, you might want to try Pakfront's Scenario Editor to help you in scenario design. Take Command: Second Manssas is as moddable as the first game.

You might also be interested in visiting the Mad Minute Games' forums to see how other gamers have reacted to the games. And another fan site for both games is up as well. Check out Tim's Graphics Mods Web Page.

The first REVIEW is also up at GameZone. Even better for MMG, www.wargamer.com has given Bull Run: Take Command 1861 its AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE, reserved only for the best wargames available, in their REVIEW of the game.
