READ ME HEADQUARTERS IN THE SADDLE: SM01 - 28 Aug - Gibbon (U_Bde)_HITS NOTE: This scenario was built for MadMinute Games Take Command: Second Manassas v2.40 (i.e. with patch). INTRODUCTION. This is a "Headquarters in the Saddle" or HITS scenario. The player's ability to move the camera is locked "in the saddle" of the commander's flag bearer so you can only see what he can see from where he is located in the 3D environment. If you want to see more...well...you will just have to ride there--just like a real Civil War brigade commander. There is no "strategic" map to refer to--Brig-Gen Gibbon did not carry a detailed map like the one normally displayed in TC2M. This version of SM01 contains several changes to the scenario to better reflect recent historical research on the engagement at Brawner's Farm. WarPack Embedded Mods: Enhanced Sound Mod Enhanced Smoke Mod Reduced Movement Rate Mod Reduced Weapons Effects Mod Visibility in Yards Display Mod Random Advisor Messages Mod INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. Unzip the .mmg file into the Scenarios folder of the TC2M main game directory. Launch the game, select Custom Scenarios, select SM01 - 28 Aug - Gibbon (U_Bde)_HITS and play. NOTE: This HITS Scenario is self contained. It will not overwrite any files or effect any other TC2M scenario. It is a stand alone scenario. RECOMMENDED OPTIONS SETTINGS. This scenario is RAM intensive. If you have 1GB or less (like me), then consider the following "RAM savers" when play this scenario: Use High Detail Units - OFF Use High Detail Flags - OFF Wrap Trees Off Map - OFF Keep All Dead Bodies - OFF Maximum Drawing Distance - 900 There are other Options to save RAM, but the adjustments above can be made with only a marginal degradation of the HITS experience. COMPATIBILITY. If the scenario will not load, remove any files you have placed in the Data Files folder of the main game directory. PLAY TIPS. - WAIT until you receive orders to do something. You will be penalized if you deploy your troops before the receipt of orders. - GO TO ME. Because you are locked in the saddle and cannot normally see YOUR flag, you have to use the Go To Me button on the toolbar to select yourself. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER...else you will find yourself issuing orders to the wrong folks. War is all Hell. - Placing Units. In addition to the normal methods for deploying units, a technique for getting your units to where you want them is as follows: 1. Detach some or all of your regiments from the Commander. 2. Ride to where you want to deploy some or all regiments and orient the Commander in the direction you want the regiment(s) to face. 3. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the regiment(s) you want to position at the Commander's location. 4. Reattach that regiment and select the brigade formation button that best suits your purposes for that/those regiment(s). 5. Detach the regiment(s) again. This will prevent this/these regiment(s) from "joining" the next deployment of one of your regiments. 6. Ride to the next location that you want to place a regiment and repeat steps 3-5 until all your regiments are in position. 7. Reattach all regiments (if this suits your purposes). Now saddle up and slap leather! Enjoy. v/r Wrangler
