DIXIE II “GODS & GENERALS” Hello All and welcome to part 2 of the Dixie range of Mods for TC2M BEFORE WE GET DOWN TO GAME PLAY If you already have "Dixie"1 installed on your computer, then just save your data file to another location (so you can play Dixie 1 again if you don’t like DIXIE II-Gods and Generals), then add the install package. If you don’t have dixie1, then you will need an UNPATCHED version of TC2M, PLUS Dixie1 installed before you add DIXIE II-Gods and Generals. Just activate the installer and install to your TC2M directory, wherever that may be Note** The game runs with all patches, but you might find some odd behaviour, we recommend an unpatched version. You will find a folder called "SCALES MOD" inside your directory (Also contains the Modding lists), this is optional. The Mod comes with 20% sprites already in place. IF you want smaller sprites and terrain then simply remove the SPRITES.csv from the Data folder and put it in the 20% folder in Scales mod. Select the scales you want i.e. 10% or 20% and drop it into the data folder. That’s it done!! PLEASE REMEMBER YOU NEED DIXIE-1 installed to be able to play DIXIE II-Gods and Generals ************************* Game notes ***************************** There are only TWO OOB’s in this Mod, it is OB_ChantillyD2LORES and OB_WargamesD2LORES (This is for very competitive play and hard games, it also shows ALL the uniforms ect in LORES). You will get a very competitive game using these OOB’s, regardless which side you use. PLEASE note: These OOB’s are LO-RES units and HI-RES. flags******HOWEVER you may use hires units and it will play albeit with some odd mixes, we recommend LoRes units. BUT you must play with HiRES FLAGS with this Mod. ----Thanks The data has been enhanced. Really, I was aiming for 1863 tactics, ranges have been carefully redone. Killing zones have been extended. Expect longer ranged fire fights and expect more outflanking attempts. Expect a more fluid movement from your opponent. Redone formations, battle lines are more closely knit. New formations have been added. Judicious use of AI, plus, TC is highly recommended, you will see why when you play the game. There are many combinations of tactics that you can use now. Redone and reorganised sounds. I will let the player discover these Redone and New uniforms and mixes. Over 40 of them, and it makes a huge difference. On this subject of uniforms and new orgs. Even on LoRes a low to medium computer configuration is going to struggle, I can’t help that. BUT I will be supplying FULL lists of; Infantry types Sound types Flag types So ANYONE can custom make their favorite OOB to have as many or less uniforms, sounds or flags as they wish. It is very easy to do. That way they can tailor the amount of content to their computer specs. I have had people try this out (with no modding experience, even my wife did it), and it works without problems. I will also add later, a NEW OOB inspired by cleaburn (Who supplied a list of all the regts nicknames). This I will release separately. I left a LOT of content out, whether I add it to a dixie3 or save it for future mods, I have not yet decided. I left out; Redone cav Regts (Now in game) 3 more Zouave units 3 more INF uniforms Redone arty (Sections and extra horses) 3 more formations Entrenched INF Abbatis Insitu guns/emplaced. Bearing in mind there is a Crimea Mod from Skunks looming on the horizon, I will probably leave them for that. Myself and Stonewall Jackson have laboured long and hard over this mod since the LoRes mods. For me it was something that I wanted to achieve, the look and feel of ACW since my war gaming days with Perry 25mm Figs. I think I have achieved that. But I will let you decide. (Also heavily influenced by the film Gods and Generals) My thanks to: Stonewall Jackson (Good mate and tester) Cleaburn (Tester) Pcelt (Tester) Tredigar (Tester) John B Thomas (A pain in the Butt) Tim for his USS Sprites JB HOOD (For his brilliant Texas Flag)--I hope you did not mind me using this (it’s better than mine) The skunkworks for support and inspiration Norb and Adam and TCM team for such a brilliant game The people of the MMG forums--who keep on supporting us. Thanks Greyman/Jackson We will continue to support Norb and Adam with our mods whilst they take a breather and Gather their strength.
