Welcome to Beagler's Reduced Fire Effects mod for MMG's CWBR 1861. Note: This version is compatible with the Toolbar mod. Warning: ONly use this version if you have the Toolbar mod version 3.1 or higher installed. The purpose of this mod is to try to achieve more realistic casualty rates, and add a bit more ebb and flow to the battles. Given the fact that gamers tend to be more brutal and agressive than their historical counterparts, casualties in the game will still tend to be a bit higher than expected. This program will backup any files that are currently in your Data Files folder. To restore your game to a previous state, simply run the included Reset program. ***************************************************************** Installation 1.) Unzip the Beaglers Reduced Fire Effects.zip wherever you prefer. 2.) Double click "Beaglers Reduced Fire Effects 1.0.exe". This will install the mod, and backup anything you currently have in your Data Files Folder. 3.) Double click the OOB file that you want to use for Open Play. You can switch between the OOBs freely. ................................................................. Uninstalling 1.) Doulbe click the Reduced Fire Effects Reset.exe file in the Data Files folder. 2.) You can always reinstall the Reduced Fire Effects at any time. ***************************************************************** Version History 1.0 The following files are contained in this mod: ................................................................. ReadMe.txt You are reading it now! ................................................................. formation.csv This is the patch 1.1 version of the file. If you are using some other modded, but 1.1 compatible formation file, feel free to manually copy it over this one. Be warned though, no other file will be guaranteed to work. ................................................................. levels.csv This file was modifed to reduce hit chances for fire and melee combat. Leader morale bonuses were also reduced. At the same time, leader rally bonuses were increased. The net effect of the leader bonuses is to add more fluidity to the battles. Units will fallback and/or retreat more often, but they will also rally more quickly. ................................................................. tables.csv The Falllback and Retreat tables in this file were heavily modifed to achieve more fluidity in the battles. Units will be much more likely to fallback and/or retreat before their morale is completely broken. ................................................................. toolbar.csv This is the Toolbar mod 3.1 version of this file. Feel free to overwrite it with the toolbar file of your choice. Once again, be warned that this is the only version of the file that is guaranteed to work. ................................................................. unitcommon.csv This is the Toolbar Mod 3.1 version of this file. It has also been modified to increase the walking speed of cavalry. I did this because there is currently no trot speed for cavalry. I felt trotting was a more common speed used on the battlefield, and cavalry should be able to maintain this pace with very little fatigue. The animations are not quite in sync, but I think it is a small price to pay for more mobile cavalry. Feel free to overwrite it with the unitcommon file of you choice. Once again, be warned that this is the only version of the file that is guaranteed to work. ................................................................. tooltext.csv This file in included to make the mod compatible with the Toolbar mod. ................................................................. Weapons.csv The base to hit chances were reduced by 50% across the board. ................................................................. Beaglers Historical 1st Bull Run OOB This file is included for open play using the historical OOB for 1st Bull Run. I had to modify the OOB by increasing the quality of all artillery and cavalry units. I did this to fix an issue where those unit types would spontaneously retreat. Hopefully future versions of the game will have seperate tables for infantry, cavalry and artillery. Note that using later war OOBs should work fine because artillery and cavalry will tend to have high enough quality ratings to avoid the skittish behavior. ................................................................. Beaglers Reorganized Rebs 1st Bull Run OOB This is my Reorganized Rebels OOB with improved quality artillery and cavalry. The Rebels are organized into three roughly equal divisions. Much more handy! ................................................................. Default 1st Bull Run OOB This is the default OOB. NO improvements to artillery or cavalry. If you use this, be warned that you will get some very odd behavior from your artillery and critter troops.
