Background: You are Brig Gen John Gibbon, Commander, 4th Brigade, 1st Division, III Corps, Army of Virginia. Your brigade has been on the road for many days--marching and countermarching--as General Pope tries to maneuver the Army of Virgina into a position to destroy Maj Gen "Stonewall" Jackson's Corps. Situation: The 1st Division is on the road enroute to Centreville, VA. Brig Gen Hatch's 1st Brigade is in the lead, followed by your brigade, then Doubleday's and Patrick's Brigades. Follow behind Hatch's brigade once they begin their movement forward. Mission: March to Centreville. Forces Available: Your command consists of 4 regiments of Infantry. The order of march for your brigade is as follows: 6th WI, 2nd WI, 7th WI, and 19th IN.
