Three More Confederate Inspection Reports from 1864

Editor’s Note: For those of you who do not know, The Siege of Petersburg Online has an Online Store which currently features Confederate Inspection Reports and Union Ordnance Returns during the Siege of Petersburg. I purchase microfilm from the National Archives and make transcriptions of this expensive to buy research available at a very reasonable price. Proceeds go directly towards the purchase of more microfilm rolls focusing on the Siege of Petersburg.

I’ve had some time this weekend to do some transcribing, so I wanted to drop a quick note letting people know the following transcriptions are available for $1.99 apiece:

Confederate Inspection Reports for 1864-65 are available on expensive microfilm from the National Archives.  As part of my Siege of Petersburg Online: Beyond the Crater site, I have been slowly transcribing these reports and making them available at a low price in an attempt to recoup my costs.  If you are interested in the state of Confederate units while they were attempting to stave off ruin in the summer and fall of 1864, I encourage you to go check these out.  My plan is to collect rolls 10-15 of NARA microfilm set M935.  These rolls contain the entire set of inspection reports for the Army of Northern Virginia in 1864-65.  I hope to collect and transcribe every single one of these reports over time to help make The Siege of Petersburg Online a better resource for those studying the campaign.  If anyone is interested in helping to transcribe these rolls (you keep a free copy of any report you transcribe), please Contact me at The Siege of Petersburg Online for details.
