While I’m Away…

The family and I are packing up and heading out on a much deserved vacation.  Due to limited internet and email access, I’ll be taking a short break from blogging for the next two weeks.  Fred and Jim may make the occasional post while I’m gone.  I’ll be back hopefully refreshed on Monday, July 26.  Until then, here are a few suggestions for checking out what we have to offer here at TOCWOC – A Civil War Blog:

  • Our Best Civil War Books section highlights some of the best books on various battles, including our Top 10 Gettysburg Books and Top 7 Shiloh Books.  In addition, the last several months of Jim Durney’s popular Civil War Book Notes series are listed as well.
  • The Civil War Book Reviews page lists all of the book reviews ever done at TOCWOC and my earlier American Civil War Gaming and Reading Blog.
  • Best of TOCWOC breaks down by year what I believe to be the very best posts written for this blog, including of course posts from TOCWOC bloggers other than myself.  I don’t believe for a minute I’m a better writer than a published author and a Top 500 Amazon.com reviewer after all!
  • TOCWOC Reader Tools gives readers some ideas of how best to make use of the navigation items in and around the posts on this site.
  • Last but not least, if you’re a wargamer, be sure to check out the beginnings of the entire set of Nafziger American Civil war orders of battle.  I’m well into 1862 at this point, so this will be especially relevant if you’re interested in battles up to around Antietam (Sharpsburg).

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacations if they’ve happened, or that you have a good time if yours is yet to occur.  I’ll see you later this month.  In the interim, happy reading!
