I was a bit surprised to find In Their Quiet Fields II still available for purchase at Multiman Publishing’s Civil War Brigade Series web site. ITQFII recreates the Battle of Antietam at the brigade level with a ground scale of 200 yards per hex. Since the title WAS available, I purchased it. As some of you may know, the Gamers; Civil War Brigade Series can often go for a pretty penny on eBay. And don’t even ask about the price of the Regimental Sub-System games! This game is the second edition of the very first Civil War Brigade Series game ever made. I’ve looked over the rules and they attempt to recreate McClellan’s cautious nature at the battle. The Union player must get incredibly lucky with his dice rolls if he is going to get any kind of coordinated attack launched. An interesting and somewhat humorous inclusion is the rule preventing McClellan from being killed. You are stuck with McClellan and his piecemeal attacks whether you like it or not!
