Military History Carnival

I’ve been aware of the History Carnival for several years now, but I only recently stumbled on the Military History Carnival, with the main page hosted by Gavin Robinson at Investigations of a Dog. On that main page, Gavin specifically asks Civil War bloggers to submit more posts:

Posts should be more recent than the last edition of the carnival, as the idea is to showcase the best recent posts.

No more than 25% of the posts in one edition of the carnival should be about the same war. So far this limit hasn’t been reached so although there are lots of American Civil War blogs, we’d like to encourage more ACW bloggers to submit posts.

I’ve decided to take Gavin up on his offer, submitting Drew Wagenhoffer’s excellent review of Drew Gilpin Faust’s This Republic of Suffering. In a bit of shameless self-promotion, I also nominated my own review of Mark Grimsley’s The Hard Hand of War.
