Director:

Mel Brooks

Gene Wilder

Marty Feldman

Comments:

Young Frankenstein is classic Mel Brooks. He parodies the Universal horror movies of the 1930's with this offering, specifically doing riffs on the Frankenstein series of movies, including Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein. If you've seen a Mel Brooks movie, you know exactly the brand of humor he puts on display. He is a master of clever puns, and it is clear Brooks is a fan of the Universal Horror movies he spoofs. Gene Wilder is hilarious as Dr. Fronk-en-steen, a descendant of the man who created the monster. He is so ashamed, he has changed the pronunciation of the name. Once he inherits Castle Frankenstein, the old callings of his ancestors have him happily making life out of death. Marty Feldman is great as Igor, and Peter Boyle (now on Everybody Loves Raymond) gives the monster new life. I love this movie, and every horror buff should have a copy.
