Tobe Hooper's low-budget 1974 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is considered by many to be a masterpiece. I didn't like it as much as many rabid horror fans, but I still think it was a decent flick. As pretty much everyone reading this knows, a bunch of kids get ambushed by a chainsaw wielding maniac named Leatherface and the rest of his less than friendly family. This movie, along with Halloween, had a lot to do with how the 80's slasher films turned out. As I've said before, I'm not a huge fan of the slasher flicks and their way to numerous sequels, but I can appreciate the originals as much as anyone. This is definitely a must-have DVD for any serious horror fan's collection.
