out of 10

Director:

Roger Corman

Actors:

Ray Milland
Hazel Court
Richard Ney

Comments:

This is one of the Roger Corman Poe adaptations. These were shot on low budgets, and usually (but not in this case) featured Vincent Price in the lead role. The Premature Burial stars Ray Milland as the lead character, a man who suffers from an affliction involving trances where he seems to be dead. He is so worried about being buried alive that he has a tomb built which will allow him to escape if he does go into a trance around people who do not know of his affliction. This was an interesting little tale, but is not among my favorite films. Luckily, you can double up on the Corman/Poe fun because this movie is packaged as a "Midnite Movies Double Feature" along with The Masque of the Red Death.
