Comments: This sequel to Frankenstein is pretty good, but it isn't on the same level as the original. Basil Rathbone stars as the son of Dr. Henry Frankenstein. He has inherited his father's castle many years after the events in the original two movies, and the villagers are terrified that he means to resume his father's experiments. Inspector Krogh (Atwill), the crusty old German officer who lost the use of his arm in the previous war (this is spoofed brilliantly and hilariously in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein), keeps a close eye on the good Baron. At first, Frankenstein sincerely means to live in peace, but after he finds his father's laboratory, Igor, and Frankenstein's monster, the old genes kick in and he's ready to go to work. This movie carries on the classic Universal tradition, and is definitely worth a look. Your best bet is to see it in The Frankenstein Legacy Collection. |
