Comments: Son of Dracula is another of the many Dracula sequels, and it does not compare to the superior Daughter of Dracula. Lon Chaney, Jr. stars as the eponymous character, and calls himself "Alucard". It doesn't take the good guys long to figure out that this is Dracula spelled backwards. At least it paved the way for the character of Alucard in Castlevania 3. Alucard has come to America, precisely because belief in his kind is not as prevalent in the New World. While there, he makes Kay Caldwell (Louise Allbritton) his bride. Naturally her fiance has a problem with this, and along with help from two professors and the local sheriff, sets out to stop the terrifying Transylvanian. Evelyn Ankers, as always hot as hell, plays the sister of Kay, but she doesn't get enough screen time for my tastes. Too bad there was no Playboy in the 1940's, because Ankers would have made an excellent addition! But I digress. As usual, I don't want to give away the ending. This one is a fun time, but I wouldn't recommend getting it on its on. The Dracula Legacy Collection is the much better buy. |
