Comments: I had heard a lot of hype for Rob Zombie's films before picking this one up, so I was moderately excited about it. While this movie does have its moments, I was a little underwhelmed. Sheri Moon Zombie is hot, but I'd like to take an ice pick to my eardrums rather than hear her screechy fucking voice for even one more second. Sid Haig was pretty cool as Captain Spaulding, the clown who takes you on a tour of famous killers before sending you on your way with some complimentary fried chicken. Hell, Bill Moseley was even decent as Otis, a crazed drifter who happens to latch on to the Firefly family. But this movie just doesn't do it for me for whatever reason. The "victims" are either mousy bitches or dorks who I gave two shits about. I noticed that some other reviewers complained about trying to tell the two dark haired girlfriends apart. I agree. The cops were douche bags too. What this all adds up to, and maybe Zombie was going for this, is that I was actually rooting for these people to just up and die already. The whole Dr. Satan thing was kind of weird and seemed sort of tacked on. If you are a fan of Rob Zombie or you enjoy 70's horror, this one might be for you. I don't think a lot of people are going to love this one. I'd call this one a decent rental, but I don't recommend a blind buy.
