Comments: As the parenthetical title might indicate, this is a French movie with English subtitles and dubbing (whichever you prefer). Brotherhood of the Wolf can be classified as quite a number of different genres, including but not limited to: horror, mystery, drama, romance, and Iroquois Kung-Fu(!), with a whole lotta gratuitous nudity thrown in. It's an entertaining film VERY loosely based on a tale from 1700's France involving a giant wolf terrorizing the countryside. Le Bihan and his Iroquois sidekick (Mark Dacascos) are recently arrived form New France, just in time to investigate the mysterious slayings of peasants by a massive wolf. Along the way, they meet a beautiful noblewoman and her family, soldiers, prostitutes with secrets, and a variety of other characters. Eventually they get to the bottom of the problem, but it isn't what it first seems. I highly recommend this film. It's not strictly horror, but you'll have a good time with it! |
