Comments: Like its predecessor Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein is directed by the legendary James Whale. The sequel tends to be the slightly more highly regarded film, but I personally like the original more by the slimmest of margins. Regardless, they are both classic, quality films. Bride picks up where the original left off. Frankenstein's monster was thought to be destroyed in the windmill fire, but two villagers find out this is not true. The monster kills one, and the other, and old lady, rushes off to warn everyone. Dr. Henry Frankenstein, meanwhile, is busy leading his happily married life until he finds out the monster is back. And things get even worse when Dr. Pretorius, another evil scientist, kidnaps his wife to force him to create a mate for the monster. This time the monster can talk, and much is made of this in the trailer to the movie. Again, I don't want to spoil the ending for those who haven't seen the movie. I highly recommend getting The Frankenstein Legacy Collection, as you can watch the original and the sequel in a row. I believe that is the best way to watch these. |
